Habitat : Thick broadleaved evergreen forests, bamboo groves and dense secondary jungles.
 
Description : Bay Woodpecker is a rufuos bird whose male has a prominent scarlet patch on the neck.Its female is slightly smaller than the male.The adult looks rufuos from above and dark brown from below.Both sexes have a pale bill,dull crimson irises and horny-brown legs.The juveniles has more scattered scarlet patches on the side of the neck.
