Description : The Blue Whistling Thrush is a large passerine (length 33 cm, weight 165 g, wing 17 cm, bill 3.5 cm, tarsus 5.3 cm, tail 13 cm approximately). It is a dark blue-black bird spotted with glistering silvery-blue. Its forehead, sides of wing and tail are bright-blue. It has a few silver-blue spots on the median wing-covert. Its irises are dark brown, bill is yellow with blackish at base and culmen, legs, feet and claws are black and the soles are yellowish-grey. The male and the female look alike. It feeds on earthworms, snails, crabs, frogs, larvae, aquatic insects and berries. It breeds in April-August.
