Description : The Crab-plover is a dumpy white wader with a big head and short stout bill (adult bird length approximately 41 cm, weight 265 g, wing 21 cm, bill 6.5 cm, tarsus 9.4 cm, tail 7 cm). It looks entirely white except for the black feathers on its back and wing primaries. It feeds on crabs, other crustaceans, mudskippers, molluscs, worms and other invertebrates. It is more active at dawn and dusk and even at night in the breeding season.
