Description : The Rusty-fronted Barwing is a slim brown babbler with a long tail, dark chestnut forehead, front and chin (length 23 cm, wing 8.5 cm, bill 1.9 cm, tarsus 3 cm, tail 11 cm). The loose crest, nape and sides to the head are grey, the mantle, wing-coverts and rump are rufous brown. Its wings are narrowly cross-barred with black, with a black patch within a large rufous patch at the base of the primaries. Its long tail is brown and strongly graduated with narrow dark bars and a pale tip. The entire underparts are pale rufous-brown. It has multicolored bill: with a brown upper mandible, yellow base to the lower mandible and fleshy tip. Its irises are brownish grey, and its legs and feet are brownish flesh. The male and the female look alike. It feeds on insects such as grasshoppers and ants. It occasionally takes berries, figs and seeds. It breeds in April-July.
