Description : The Pheasant-tailed Jacana is a water bird with very long toes and a long tail in the breeding season (adult bird length approximately 31 cm, weight 145 g, wing 21 cm, bill 2.7 cm, tarsus 5.7 cm, tail 23.5 cm). The non-breeding bird is pale brown above. It has white underparts with a dark line down the side of neck, and a black to brown breast band. It feeds on seeds and shoots of aquatic plants, insects and other aquatic invertebrates. It breeds in May-September.
