Description : The Greater Painted Snipe is a marsh bird with broad wings (adult bird length approximately 25 cm, weight 125 g, wing 12.7 cm, bill 4.4, tarsus 4.3, tail 4 cm ). Its female is more clourful than the male. In the breeding season, the female looks dark metallic olive-green or bronze-green from above and white from below. It feeds on insects, snails, crustaceans, earthworms, seeds and grains. It usually breeds in July- September.
