Description : Pied Kingfisher is a white water bird with black spots and bands all over its body.Its crown and crest are black which are streaked with white and the underparts are white apart from the breast.The male has two black bands on the breast but the female has single black-band.It has brownish-black bill,brown iris and brownish-black legs and feet. The primary diet of this kingfisher consists of fish, although it occasionally consumes crustaceans and sizable aquatic insects like dragonfly larvae. Its hunting technique typically involves hovering above the water to locate its prey, followed by a swift vertical dive, snatching fish with its bill-first approach.
