Description : The great eared nightjar, belonging to the largest species in its family, can measure between 31 to 41 cm (12 to 16 in) in length. On average, males weigh 131 g (4.6 oz) while females weigh 151 g. Its natural habitat is subtropical or moist lowland tropical forests. They are active at dusk and at night. A scrape on the ground serves as the nest for the great eared nightjar, and their clutch comprises only one egg. The chick's camouflage is well-adapted to blend in with the surrounding leaf litter.
