Greater Flamingo Did you see this animal?

Scientific Name : Phoenicopterus roseus
Family : Phoenicopteridae
Order : Phoenicopteriformes
Class : Aves
Phylum : Chordata
Habitat : Haors

Description : The greater flamingo is the most widespread and largest species of the flamingo family. Most of the plumage is pinkish-white, but the wing coverts are red and the primary and secondary flight feathers are black. The bill is pink with a restricted black tip, and the legs are entirely pink. The greater flamingo is found in saltwater mudflats and coastal lagoons. It feeds by stirring up mud with its feet and filtering out small organisms and food particles through its bill. The bird lays a single white egg on a mud mound and has a long lifespan of over 60 years in captivity and 30-40 years in the wild. While adult flamingos have few natural predators, their eggs and chicks are vulnerable to birds like raptors, crows, gulls, and the marabou stork. The main threats to flamingo populations include water pollution from manufacturing runoff and habitat loss due to human encroachment.
