Description : Banteng are medium-sized animals with a body length of 1.9 to 2.5 meters (6.2 to 8.2 feet), a shoulder height of 1.2 to 1.6 meters (3.9 to 5.2 feet), and a weight of 400 to 900 kilograms (880 to 1,980 pounds). They have a dark brown to black coat with white markings on the legs, rump, and muzzle.

Banteng are found in a variety of habitats including tropical forests, grasslands, and scrublands.

Banteng are social animals that form herds ranging in size from a few individuals to up to 50 animals. They are active during the day and rest in the shade during the hottest part of the day.

Banteng are herbivores and mainly feed on grasses, leaves, and fruits. They are known to forage for food during the day and at night.

Banteng are listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The main threats to their survival are habitat loss due to agriculture, hunting for meat and traditional medicines, and competition with domestic cattle. Efforts are being made to conserve the species through captive breeding programs and protected areas.
