Description : Blackbucks have a distinctive appearance with their shiny black coat, white underbelly, and long twisted horns in males. Females are smaller in size and lack horns.

Blackbucks are medium-sized antelopes, with males typically standing around 70-85 cm at the shoulder and weighing between 25 to 40 kg. Females are smaller, standing around 60-70 cm at the shoulder and weighing between 20 to 30 kg.

They inhabit open grasslands, scrublands, and dry plains, where they can graze on the grass and browse on shrubs.

Blackbucks are known for their high-speed running ability, and can reach speeds of up to 80 km/h (50 mph) to escape predators. They are also social animals and form herds consisting of females and their young, while males live solitary or in small groups.

They are primarily herbivores, feeding on grasses and leaves.

The blackbuck is listed as Near Threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) due to habitat loss and poaching for their meat and horns. However, their population is stable in many protected areas and some private lands where they are valued for their aesthetic and ecotourism importance.
