Description : The Common jester butterfly has black antennae, ochreous at its apex. The upperside of the wings has a black base with several orange-yellow spots and bands crossing over the body. The underside of the wings is ochreous orange with some ferruginous spots and lines. The underside of the forewing has a short oblique red streak that continues to the hindwing. The underside of the hindwing may have a posterior bluish region.Females are paler than males, but have broader markings.
