Description : During wet season, the upperside is brown with a white spot. In the dry season, the white spot is enlarged, bearing a large white oval patch. In the dry season, the hindwing is almos white. Underside is white with brown and black spots and a small tail on the hindwing. The abdomen and legs are easily recognizable, being stripped black and white. This species of adult flies tends to stay close to the ground, flying at low altitudes. They are commonly observed in forest glades and edges. Male flies of this species are known to visit cow dung and damp areas for mud-puddling, although they don't typically feed on carrion or old fruit, at least on Borneo and likely in other locations as well.
