Description : The wet-season male butterfly has bluish-purple uppersides on its wings with specific pale blue flushes and dark brown lines. The hindwing has a dusky black costa and white cilia with a brown line. The undersides are grey with dark brown spots and lines, bordered by white.

The wet-season female butterfly is dark brown with bright iridescent blue on the wings, which doesn't extend to the costa, termen, or dorsum. The hindwing may have whitish lunules and a subterminal series of black spots. The undersides are similar to the male.

The dry-season form closely resembles the wet-season form but has a somewhat paler ground color on the uppersides and a large nebulous brown patch on the hindwing underside. In some cases, the underside ground color can be very pale, almost white, especially in females.
