Description : The Quaker is a small sized butterfly. The upper side of both male and female butterflies is dark purplish-brown. Females have a slightly paler area on the forewing's center, and in some males, this paler area is also present. The underside is white. On the forewing's underside, there's a dusky brown apex, and some veins have small black dots. No discal markings are present, but there's a faint brown line on the discocellulars. There's a series of brown lunules followed by a sinuous brown line, and then a subterminal series of black spots. The hindwing's underside is similar with a short brown line on the discocellulars, black spots, and pale ashy-brown lunules. On the upper side, the ground color is generally lighter. The forewing has a white spot on the disc, and the hindwing's apex and disc are irregularly white. In the dry season, markings on the underside are fainter, and in extremely dry areas, they might be absent. The antennae, head, thorax, and abdomen are paler on the upper side.
