Description : The male butterfly has blackish-brown upper wings with a violet-blue tint. The forewing may reveal some bands from the underside, while the hindwing has a glossy blue color covering most of it, leaving pale blackish-brown areas on the costal space and abdominal fold. There are black spots in the anal lobe and between the tails, both with silvery scales. The hindwing also features a fairly large anal orange patch. The cilia of both wings are grey.

On the underside, the butterfly has yellowish-white wings with dark red bands and disconnected silvery lines. The forewing has several bars and streaks, while the hindwing has four broad bands at equal distances. The antennae are black with white dots at the sides and a red-tipped club. The frons is black with a white stripe on each side. The female resembles the male but with a paler and duller violet-blue tint on the upperside.
