Scientific Name : Ypthima baldus
Family : Satyridae
Order : Lepidoptera
Class : Insecta
Phylum : Arthropoda
Habitat : Grasslands,low bushes

Description : Male: The upper side is brown with darker terminal margins and distinct subbasal and discal dark bands on both forewing and hindwing. The forewing has a large, slightly oblique, oval, bi-pupilled, yellow-ringed black pre-apical ocellus. The hindwing typically features two postdiscal round uni-pupilled ocelli, and sometimes one or two tiny tornal ocelli as well.
Underside resembles Y. philomela but with a paler ochraceous-white ground color, coarser brown transverse stripes, and more distinctly arranged ocelli on the hindwing (two tornal, two median, and two preapical). Both forewing and hindwing display more or less defined subbasal, discal, and subterminal brown transverse bands.
Female: Differs on the upperside with paler areas surrounding the ocelli on both forewing and hindwing, sprinkled with brown striae. The discal transverse band is generally clearly defined, and at least one of the apical ocelli is often distinct. On the underside, it is paler than the male, with more clearly defined subbasal, discal, and subterminal dark bands.
Dry-season form: Both males and females are similar to the above but paler. In the female, the ground color is often ochraceous white with brown striae. The ocelli on the hindwing may be non-pupilled. The underside also appears paler than in the wet-season form, with more prominent subbasal, discal, and subterminal bands, and the hindwing ocelli reduced to mere specks.
Wingspan: 38–46 mm.
