Description : Sambar deer can grow up to 2.2 meters (7.2 feet) in length and 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) in height at the shoulder. Males are usually larger than females.
The color of Sambar deer varies depending on their age and location, but in general, they have a dark brown coat with a lighter brown underside. They also have a dark stripe running down their back.
Male Sambar deer have antlers that can grow up to 110 cm (43 inches) long, with three points on each branch.
Sambar deer are herbivores and mainly feed on grasses, fruits, leaves, and bark.
Sambar deer are solitary animals and are active mainly at dawn and dusk. They are also good swimmers and can dive up to 4 meters (13 feet) underwater.
Sambar deer can be found in a variety of habitats, including tropical rainforests, grasslands, and deciduous forests.
Sambar deer are considered to be a species of "Least Concern" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), although their populations have declined in some areas due to habitat loss and hunting.
