Description : The Blackvein Sergeant is black on its upperside but white beneath. It has hairy like scales on top of its eyes. On the forewing's upperside, the areas close the wing base may have a turqoise tint. Several white median spots are found on forewing along with some blue spots at the base.The upperside of the hindwing shows a transverse white band and a subterminal narrow line of pale marks. The underside of the wing of both the sexes is dark brown covered by medium-sized spots. While males are black, females are brown. This butterfly lives in a green forest near a stream. It has black antennae, head, thorax, and abdomen. The front part of the thorax has a faint blue shine, and the abdomen has a line of white spots on each side starting from the base. The underside of the body is white, with a pale blue shine on the front part of the thorax, and the eyes have some hair.

During the dry season, both males and females have dark brown wings on top with broader and somewhat faded white markings. On the underside, the wings have a distinct ochre-brown color.
