Description : The Short-tailed Bandicoot Rat has a small, compact body with short legs and a short, pointed snout. It has a short, sparsely haired tail that is less than half the length of its body. The fur is typically brownish-gray or reddish-brown in color.

This Rat typically measures around 15-20 cm (6-8 inches) in length, with a tail that is around 6-9 cm (2.5-3.5 inches) long
This Rat is found in a variety of habitats, including grasslands, agricultural fields, and forested areas.

Like other species of mole rats, the Short-tailed Bandicoot Rat is primarily nocturnal and spends most of its time underground. It is an herbivorous species, feeding on a variety of roots, tubers, and other plant materials.

The Short-tailed Bandicoot Rat is a prolific breeder and can produce several litters per year. The gestation period is around 20-21 days, and litters typically consist of 4-5 young.
