Description : Rough-toothed dolphins have a slender, streamlined body that can grow up to 8.5 feet (2.6 meters) in length. They have a dark gray to dark brown coloration on their back and sides, with a lighter underbelly. Their name comes from the presence of numerous conical teeth with rough edges that they use to catch and grip their prey.
These dolphins are known for being highly active and social. They often travel in groups of 10 to 20 individuals, but can sometimes form larger pods of up to 100. They are also known for being very acrobatic, often leaping out of the water and performing flips and spins.
Rough-toothed dolphins feed on a variety of fish and squid, as well as octopus and crustaceans. They have been known to work together to herd schools of fish into tight groups for easier hunting.
Rough-toothed dolphins can be found in tropical and subtropical waters around the world.
