Description : This butterfly has two forms: wet-season and dry-season. The wet-season form has a dark Vandyke brown upper side with pale lines on the wings and distinct ocelli. On the underside, there's a dusky-white discal band and ocelli surrounded by a yellowish or purplish-white line. The dry-season form is paler with faint ocelli and darker markings on the underside. The male sex-mark is larger than in M. perseus.
