Description : Walking Catfish is a elongated bodied fish. Tail compressed. Head strongly depressed. Mouth terminal. Caudal fin rounded. Eyes small. Dorsal and anal fins long. Small white spots present laterally. Female is larger and darker than male. In its natural habitat, this creature exhibits omnivorous behavior, preying on smaller fish, mollusks, and other invertebrates, along with detritus and aquatic weeds. Its voracious appetite leads to rapid consumption of food supplies, making it detrimental as an invasive species. Walking catfish flourish in stagnant, often oxygen-depleted waters, commonly inhabiting muddy ponds, canals, ditches, and similar environments. The species predominantly stays near or just above the bottom, occasionally surfacing to gulp air.
