Description : The body displays a pale greenish or grayish coloration, featuring a distinct, almost viridescent, horizontal silvery mark in the membrane connecting the opercle to the cranium's side. The mesethmoid is moderately expanded, with a slightly convex dorsal profile and Y-shaped anterior. Barbels are short and slender, with the nasal barbel extending only to the posterior end of the nostril. Maxillary and mental barbels do not extend beyond the head's posterior, and the maxillary-barbel membrane is absent or significantly reduced.

The maxillary bone inside the maxillary barbel is very short, and outer and inner mental barbels are evenly and widely separated. There is no paired lateral cranial fontanel, and branchiostegal membranes are free from the isthmus. The anal fin comprises 4-6 simple rays and 7-9 branched rays (typically 5 + 8). This species readily consumes various foods, with a preference for live or frozen options.
