Habitat : Ponds,ditches,beels,swamps,marshes,muddy rivers.
Description : Stinging Catfish got an elongated body which is subcylindrical upto the pelvic fin and compressed posteriorly.Above shows yellow or dark purplish color and lighter below.Depressed head is present along with small termianl mouth having 4 pairs of barbels.Short dorsal fin present along with rounded caudal fin. Very common in pond, ditches, swamps and marshes but found in muddy river also.
