Description : The Chocolate Royal is mostly brown. Upperside is brownish-black with a iridiscent blue spot close to the base, in both pairs of wings.The underside of the wings is orange-brown with a very thin darkbround band close to the margin. Hindwings have two pairs of tails. The chocolate royal males primarily engage in short flights and can often be observed resting on damp surfaces while drinking water. Instead of frequenting flowers for nectar, they tend to perch on bird droppings to extract mineral salts. These butterflies are commonly spotted basking in the sunlight, with their upper wings spread open.
