Description : ছোট পানচিল/ খুদে গাংচিল ধূসর আর সাদা রঙের জলচর পাখি। পাখিটির ঠোঁটের রঙ ঋতুভেদে হলুদ অথবা কালো রঙের হয়।(পূর্ণ বয়স্ক পাখির দৈর্ঘ্য প্রায় ২৩ সেমি, ডানা ১৭ সেমি পর্যন্ত হতে পারে) প্রজনন মৌসুমে এদের মাথায় মখমলের ন্যায় কালো রঙের টুপি বিদ্যমান থাকে। এরা মাছ, জলজ পোকামাকড় খেয়ে থাকে। এরা উপকূল এবং দ্বীপগুলিতে নুড়ি দিয়ে চিহ্নিত এলাকা গঠন করে। এটি দুটি থেকে চারটি ডিম পাড়ার জন্য পছন্দের স্থান হিসাবে মাটিকে বেছে নেয়। এটি তার বাসা এবং বংশের প্রতি একটি প্রতিরক্ষামূলক প্রকৃতি প্রদর্শন করে। প্রায়শই অনুপ্রবেশকারীদের আক্রমণ করে।
