Description : This fish has a rhomboidal and compressed body, meaning it's shaped a bit like a diamond and flattened from the sides. Its lower jaw is longer and has a little bump, while the upper jaw has a small notch. The mouth is small and points upwards. It has a dorsal fin that's slightly toward the tail and a caudal fin that's a bit curved. You can find a line of scales running along its side, about 34 to 38 of them.

Now, let's talk about its colors. Its body is mostly greenish-silver, with a golden-colored anal fin and yellowish pectoral, pelvic, and caudal fins. When it comes to size, its head is about 23.5% of its body length, its body height is roughly 43.1% of its length, and its eye size is about a third of its head length.

In simpler terms, this fish is relatively small, usually around 6.5 to 10 centimeters long. You can find them in various water bodies like rivers, canals, ponds, and fields all over Bangladesh. They like living in flat areas and are commonly found in clear streams, rivers, and ponds around Dhaka.

For breeding, they prefer Spanish moss as a spawning medium. Once the parents lay their eggs, it's best to remove them, and young fish need to be fed tiny organisms like infusoria and brine shrimp as soon as they start swimming freely.
