Description : The male of this butterfly has dark brown uppersides on the forewings with bluish-white spots in a postdiscal and subterminal series. The hindwings are rich hair-brown with or without a subterminal series of white specks. Undersides are chocolate brown with reduced white markings on the forewings and similar markings on the hindwings. Antennae, head, thorax, and abdomen are velvety brown with sporadic white spots.

Females have different coloration forms. The first form has dull brown basal forewings and brown apical forewings with blue markings. The second, rarer form closely resembles males but is larger, paler, with more prominent blue-glossed spots on the forewings.

Wingspan: 120–150 mm.
