Description : Both male and female butterflies of this species have a pale lavender-brown upper wing surface, with the apical half of the wings being paler. On the forewing, there are three short, sinuous black bands in the cell, and another similar band beyond the cell's apex. Two transverse discal dusky black fasciae are present, with the inner one highly sinuous and angulated above vein 4. The outer fascia is somewhat lunular and bordered by whitish ovals with dusky or black centers. These ovals in interspaces 2, 5, and 6 are margined with rich ocherous yellow. Beyond this series, there is a narrow, transverse dark band, followed by sinuous subterminal and terminal broad dark lines. The apex of the wing is slightly fuliginous.

On the hindwing, there is a short, slender black loop from veins 6 to 4 at the apex of the cell-area, followed by two discal sinuous transverse dark fasciae in continuation of those on the forewing. A series of dark-centered ovals appear in interspaces 2–6, with the ovals in interspaces 2, 5, and 6 having broad ochreous yellow borders inwardly. Postdiscal, subterminal, and terminal dark lunular lines are also present on the hindwing.

On the underside, the markings are similar to those on the upperside but more delicate, slender, and somewhat faint. In males during the dry season, the rows of oval ocelli are only indicated by the yellow-centered ovals. The most prominent marking is the inner discal fascia, which is less sinuous and not angulated on the forewing. In females, the markings are heavier and more distinct, with the spaces between the various transverse fasciae tinged with ocherous coloration.
