Description : The male large white butterfly has a white to pale cream upper side with black scales scattered at the base of the forewing and along certain areas. The apex to the middle of the terminal margin is black, with a round black spot in interspace 3. The hindwing has a prominent subcostal black spot and several terminal black spots along the veins.

On the underside, the forewing is white with scattered black scales on the cell and costa, sometimes tinged with ochraceous yellow at the apex. Hindwings range from pale to dark ochraceous, heavily speckled with black scales. The female is similar but with more prominent black scales, broader black areas on the wings, and additional spots. The wingspan ranges from 42 to 60 mm.
