Description : The male butterfly has a creamy white upper side with black markings on the forewing's costa, apex, and terminal margin. An irregular black band crosses from the costa to the upper apex of the cell, enclosing a red patch with black veins. Hindwing is nearly uniform with a black spot in interspace 7. Female is similar but with greenish tinge, orange patch with black markings, and triangular black spots on hindwing. Dry-season form has more falcate forewing apex and purer white color. Race australis lacks some black markings on both genders' wings. Underside has brown mottlings.
