Description : Small Indian Civets are small in size, measuring about 40 to 50 cm in length, with a tail length of 32 to 40 cm. They weigh between 1.5 to 2 kg.

They have a brownish-gray fur coat with dark spots and stripes on their body and legs. The tail is bushy and black with white markings at the tip.

Small Indian Civets are omnivorous, feeding on insects, small mammals, birds, fruits, and vegetables.

They are nocturnal and arboreal animals that are most active during the night. They are solitary animals, except during mating season.

They are found in a variety of habitats such as forests, grasslands, and agricultural lands. They are adaptable to human-dominated landscapes and can be seen in urban areas as well.

Small Indian Civets mate during the months of February and March. The gestation period is around 60 days, and they usually give birth to two to four offspring.

The Small Indian Civet faces threats such as habitat loss due to deforestation, hunting for their fur and meat, and poaching for use in traditional medicines. They are also hunted for their musk glands, which are used in the production of perfumes.
