Description : Binturongs have long, shaggy fur that is black or dark brown in color. They have a distinctive prehensile tail that is used for grasping branches and hanging from trees. Their ears are small and rounded, and they have sharp, curved claws.

They are medium-sized animals, with a body length of about 70-90 cm (27-35 inches) and a weight of 9-14 kg (20-31 pounds).

Their diet consists mainly of fruit, but they also eat small animals such as birds, rodents, and reptiles.

Binturongs are arboreal and spend most of their time in trees. They are solitary animals, except during mating season. They have a slow and deliberate movement and are known for their musky odor.

Females give birth to a litter of one to six offspring after a gestation period of around 90 days. The young are born with closed eyes and are dependent on their mother for several months.

They are found in a variety of forest habitats, including tropical rainforests, mangrove swamps, and bamboo forests.

The binturong is classified as Vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) due to habitat loss and hunting for their meat, fur, and body parts. They are also captured and kept as pets in some areas.
