Other Name : Hog-nosed Badger
Habitat : Forest, Savanna, Shrubland, Grassland

Description : Hog badgers are medium-sized, with a long and broad body, short legs, and a distinctive pointed snout. They have a thick, shaggy coat of dark fur that helps them blend in with their surroundings.

Hog badgers are native to Southeast Asia, including countries like China, Vietnam, and Laos. They typically live in forested areas, but can also be found in grasslands and agricultural fields.

Hog badgers are omnivores, which means they eat both plants and animals. Their diet includes small mammals, birds, insects, fruits, and roots.

Hog badgers are solitary creatures, except during mating season. They are mostly active at night and spend their days resting in burrows or dense vegetation. They are known for their strong digging abilities, which they use to create burrows and search for food.

Hog badgers mate in the spring, and females give birth to litters of 1-4 offspring after a gestation period of around 2 months.

Hog badgers are listed as a species of Least Concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), but their populations are declining due to habitat loss and hunting for their fur and meat.
