Description : কালা তিতির গাঢ় বাদামি রঙের পাথি।(পূর্ণ বয়স্ক পাখির দৈর্ঘ্য প্রায় ৩৪ সেমি. ওজন প্রায় ৪৩০ গ্রাম, ডানা প্রায় ১৫ সেমি.) ছেলে মেয়ে পাখির চেহারায় কিছুটা ভিন্নতা আছে। ছেলে পাখির পিঠ ঘন কালো। মুখ কালো, গাল সাদা। মেয়ে পাখির পিঠ কিছুটা বাদামি, ঘাড়ের নিচের অংশ লালচে। এরা চাষকৃত ফসল এর আবাসস্থলে পাওয়া যায়। এগুলি সাধারণত জলের কাছাকাছি ঘন গাছপালা সহ বিভিন্ন এলাকায় পাওয়া যায়। যেমন স্ক্রাবল্যান্ড এবং তৃণভূমি সংলগ্ন বনের প্রান্ত। এরা জলের কাছাকাছি এবং এমনকি শুষ্ক অঞ্চলেও পাওয়া যায়।
এই পাখিরা প্রাথমিকভাবে মাটিতে বাস করে এবং উদ্ভিদের উপাদান এবং ছোট অমেরুদণ্ডী প্রাণী খোঁজার জন্য বেশিরভাগ সময় কাটায়। এরা তাদের বৃত্তাকার ডানাগুলিতে গ্লাইড ব্যবহার করে। যখন বিপদে পরে বা অস্বস্তি বোধ করে তখন সাধারণত উড়ে যাওয়ার চেয়ে দূরে সরে যেতে পছন্দ করে। এভিকালচারে, এদের ছোট ছোট পোকা এবং মোমের কীট খাওয়ানো হয়।
