Description : মেটে তিতির পাখির রঙ ধুসর, প্রাপ্ত বয়স্ক পাখির পিঠ তামাটে, ধূসর, বাদামি ডোরা। (পূর্ণ বয়স্ক পাখির দৈর্ঘ্য প্রায় ৩৩ সেমি. ওজন প্রায় ২৭৫ গ্রাম, ডানা প্রায় ১৪.৬ সেমি.) এরা এপ্রিল থেকে সেপ্টেম্বর পর্যন্ত বংশবৃদ্ধি করে। এই সময়ে তারা বাসা হিসাবে লুকানো মাটির গর্ত তৈরি করে। মাঝে মাঝে তারা দেয়াল বা পাথরের মধ্যে ফাঁকে মাটির স্তরের উপরে বাসা তৈরি করতে পারে। সাধারণ ক্লাচে ছয় থেকে আটটি ডিম থাকে।
তাদের খাদ্যের মধ্যে রয়েছে বীজ, শস্য এবং পোকামাকড়। কখনও কখনও তারা সাপের মতো বড় শিকারও খেতে পারে।
খাবার শিকারের জন্য তারা দলে দলে জড়ো হয় এবং তাদের পছন্দের স্থান হিসাবে নিচু কাঁটাযুক্ত গাছের সন্ধান করে।
