Description : চামচঠুঁটো বাটান ছোট আকারের উপকূলীয় অঞ্চলের পাখি। পাখিটির ঠোঁট দেখতে চামচের মতো।(পূর্ণ বয়স্ক পাখির দৈর্ঘ্য প্রায় ১৭সেমি., ডানা ১০ সেমি. পর্যন্ত হতে পারে) প্রজনন ঋতু না হলে এরা ফিকে ধূসর, তবে সাদা সুপারসিলিয়াম(চোখের ভ্রু) বিদ্যমান, পেট সাদা। অপরদিকে প্রজননকালীন সময়ে মুখ, গলা, বুক কাঠ বাদামের ন্যায় রঙ ধারণ করে। এরা কাদায় থাকা বিভিন্ন অমেরুদণ্ডী প্রাণী খুব দক্ষতার সাথে অনবরত খুঁজে এবং প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী খাদ্য হিসাবে খায়। মাথা নিচু করে সামনের দিকে হাঁটার সময় এটির একটি খাওয়ার ধরন রয়েছে যা এটির ঠোঁটের পাশ দিয়ে চলাচল করে। জুন এবং জুলাই মাসে, এই প্রজাতিটি উপকূলীয় অঞ্চলে বাসা বাঁধে, বিশেষত মিঠা পানির উৎসের কাছাকাছি ঘাসসহ জায়গা বেছে নেয়।
