Scientific Name : Rhabdophis subminiatus
Family : Colubridae
Order : Squamata
Class : Reptilia
Phylum : Chordata
Habitat : Near ponds

Description : The Red-necked Keelback is a slender and agile snake with a pointed head and a distinct neck. The coloration of the snake is typically green or brown, with a bright red or orange stripe on the back of the neck. Some individuals may also have black spots or stripes on their body. The adult Red-necked Keelback can reach a length of up to 1 meter (3.3 feet), but most individuals are smaller than this. This snake is typically found in lowland forests, swamps, and agricultural areas near water sources such as streams, ponds, and rice fields. The Red-necked Keelback feeds on a variety of prey, including frogs, lizards, small mammals, and fish. The venom of this snake is mildly toxic and mainly used to subdue its prey. While bites from this species are relatively rare, they can be dangerous and potentially fatal if not treated promptly. The Red-necked Keelback is primarily diurnal (active during the day) and arboreal (tree-dwelling), although it can also be found on the ground. This species is not aggressive towards humans, but it may become defensive if threatened or cornered.
