Description : Dholes are medium-sized canids, with a body length ranging from 80 to 120 cm and a shoulder height of up to 60 cm. They weigh between 12 to 20 kg, depending on their habitat and subspecies.

Their fur color can vary from yellowish-brown to reddish-brown, with white markings on their chest and belly. They have short, sleek fur, which helps them to stay cool in hot environments.

Dholes are highly adaptable and can live in a variety of habitats, including forests, grasslands, and even high-altitude areas. They have a complex social hierarchy and live in packs, which can range from 3 to 40 individuals.

Their diet mainly consists of small to medium-sized mammals, such as deer, wild boar, and smaller carnivores. They are skilled hunters and use cooperative hunting behavior to take down larger prey.

Dholes are highly vocal and have a complex communication system, including whistles, howls, and barks. They have a strong sense of loyalty to their pack and exhibit cooperative parenting behavior, with both parents taking care of the young.

Mating occurs between October and December, and after a gestation period of 60 to 63 days, females give birth to litters of 4 to 8 pups. Both parents take care of the young, and the pups stay with the family group for several months before they become independent.

Dholes are considered endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) due to habitat loss, hunting, and conflicts with human. We should preserve them for the upcoming generations.
