Scientific Name : Indotyphlops braminus
Family : Typhlopidae
Order : Squamata
Class : Reptilia
Phylum : Chordata
Other Name : Common Worm Snake
Habitat : Agricultural lands,Urban areas

Description : The smallest known species of snake, measuring 2-4 inches (5.1-10.2 cm) in length, with rare specimens reaching up to 6 inches (15 cm), has a head and tail that appear similar due to the indistinct neck. The scales on the head resemble those on the body, unlike other snakes. The eyes are barely visible as small dots underneath the head scales, covered in translucent scales that render the snakes almost completely blind. However, their eyes are capable of sensing light intensity even though they cannot form images. The tip of the tail has a small, pointed spur. The dorsal scales are arranged in fourteen rows and the coloration ranges from charcoal gray, silver-gray, light yellow-beige, purplish, or infrequently albino, with the ventral surface being more pale. Juvenile snakes have similar coloration to adults. These snakes exhibit a range of behaviors from lethargy to energy and will quickly seek shelter under soil or leaf litter to avoid exposure to light.
These snakes typically inhabit urban and agricultural areas and make their homes underground within ant and termite nests. They can also be found under logs, moist leaves, stones, and humus in a variety of environments, including wet forests, dry jungles, abandoned buildings, and even city gardens. The survival and distribution of these blind snakes are heavily influenced by soil humidity and temperature. As for their diet, they primarily consume the larvae, eggs, and pupae of ants and termites.
