Description : Rhesus Macaques are medium-sized primates, weighing between 5 and 25 kg (11 to 55 lb) and measuring 40 to 70 cm (16 to 28 in) in length.
They have a short, brown or gray coat with a pinkish face, long tail, and a distinctive red, crescent-shaped patch on their hindquarters.
Rhesus Macaques are highly social animals and live in large groups, called troops, that can number in the hundreds. They are active during the day and spend much of their time grooming each other to strengthen social bonds.
They are omnivores, feeding on a wide range of foods including fruits, seeds, insects, and small vertebrates.
Rhesus Macaques can be found in a variety of habitats, including forests, grasslands, and urban areas. They are adaptable and can live in both tropical and temperate environments.
Females typically give birth to a single offspring after a gestation period of around 165 days. Young are weaned after 6 to 12 months, and reach sexual maturity between 3 and 5 years of age.
