Habitat : পুকুর,খাত,বিল,জলাবদ্ধতা,জলাভূমি,কর্দমাক্ত নদী।
Description : শিং প্রজাতির মাছের লম্বাটে শরীরের শ্রোণী পাখনা পর্যন্ত উপ ত্রিভুজাকার হয় এবং পশ্চাৎভাগ সংকুচিত হয়ে থাকে।এদের উপরিভাগে হলুদ বা গাড় বেগুনি রঙ এবং নিম্মভাগ হালকা দেখায়।চাপানো মাথাটি ৪ জোড়া বারবেলযুক্ত ছোট প্রান্তীয় মুখের সাথে উপস্থিত থাকে এবং গোলাকার পুচ্ছ পাখনার সাথে সংক্ষিপ্ত পৃষ্ঠীয় পাখনা উপস্থিত থাকতে দেখা যায়। এদের পুকুর, খাদ, জলাভূমিতে খুব পাওয়া যায়। তবে কর্দমাক্ত নদীতেও পাওয়া যায়।
