Description : The dog-faced water snake is a slender, medium-sized snake that can grow up to 1.5 meters in length. It has a distinctive, flattened head that is wider than its neck, giving it a dog-like appearance. Its body is brown or greyish-brown with darker bands or spots along the length of its body.
This species of snake is found in a variety of freshwater habitats, including streams, rivers, ponds, and marshes. It is a good swimmer and is often seen basking on rocks or branches overhanging water.
The dog-faced water snake is primarily nocturnal, and feeds on fish, frogs, and other aquatic animals. It is a non-venomous snake but can be aggressive if threatened or cornered.
The female dog-faced water snake lays eggs, and the young hatch after an incubation period of around two months.
The dog-faced water snake is not currently considered threatened, although habitat destruction and pollution of freshwater ecosystems may pose a threat to its populations.
