Habitat : শক্তিশালী স্রোতের বালুকাময় তলদেশ।
Description : চেনুয়া মাছের দেহ লম্বা হয়। এর লেজ লম্বা ও সংকুচিত। এর মুখ ছোট থাকে। এর দাঁত অনুপস্থিত থাকে। এরা ৬ রশ্মিবিশিষ্ট পায়ু পাখনা সংক্ষিপ্ত থাকে। এর পৃষ্ঠীয় পাখনার কাটা দুর্বল থাকে। এর দেহের উপরে কালো এবং নীচের দিকে হালকা বর্ণের। এরা হাওর, বাঁওড় এবং নদী, বিশেষ করে বৃহত্তর রংপুর ও দিনাজপুর জেলার মধ্যে একটি বালুকাময় নীচে এবং শক্তিশালী স্রোতযুক্ত জলাশয়ে বাস করে। এই প্রজাতিটি ডেট্রিটাস ফিডার হিসাবে পরিবেশগত ভূমিকা পালন করে।
