Description : বেগুনি বক লম্বা পায়ের জলচর পাখি, যার ডানা বেগুনি রঙের হয়।(পূর্ণ বয়স্ক পাখির দৈর্ঘ্য প্রায় ৯৭ সেমি., ডানা ৩৬ সেমি. পর্যন্ত হতে পারে) এদের মাথা ও গলা কাঠবাদামের রঙের ন্যায় আর উজ্জ্বল, মাথায় কালো টুপির মত অংশ আছে, প্রতিটি চোখের নিচ থেকে লম্বা গলার পাশ বরাবর গাঢ় রঙের লাইন টানা থাকে। এদের চোখের আইরিশ আর ঠোঁট হলুদ। এরা মাছ, ব্যাঙ, পোকামাকড় খেয়ে থাকে। এদের প্রজননকাল জুন-অক্টোবর।
