Description : Adult males can grow up to 4.5 meters (15 feet) in length, while females are smaller, usually reaching up to 3 meters (10 feet) in length. The mugger crocodile has a robust and muscular body with a broad snout. Its color ranges from light brown to almost black with black spots and bands on its tail. It prefers freshwater habitats such as rivers, lakes, and marshes, and can also be found in irrigation canals and ponds. It is a carnivorous animal and feeds on a variety of prey such as fish, birds, mammals, and reptiles.
The mugger crocodile is a territorial animal and can be aggressive towards intruders. It is mostly active during the night and spends most of the day basking in the sun. The mugger crocodile is classified as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Habitat loss and hunting for its skin and meat have led to a decline in its population.
