Description : Creek loach typically reaches a size of around 3 to 4 inches (7.5 to 10 centimeters) in length. It has an elongated and slender body, with a coloration that can vary depending on its specific habitat. These fish often display a mottled or speckled pattern on their bodies, which can range from shades of brown to olive green. Dark lateral stripes or blotches are also common, giving them a unique and attractive appearance.

In terms of behavior, it is a bottom-dwelling species. They are known for their preference for clear, well-oxygenated water in fast-flowing streams and rivers. They are often found in rocky or gravelly substrates, where they use their slender bodies to navigate through crevices and rocky formations.

One of the fascinating aspects of Beavan's loach is their adaptation to fast-flowing water. They have evolved to have a streamlined body shape and strong pectoral fins that allow them to maintain their position in strong currents. Additionally, they have specialized adhesive organs on their ventral surface, which help them cling to rocks and avoid being swept away by the current.

In an aquarium setting, it requires conditions that replicate their natural habitat. This includes providing a substrate of gravel or small rocks, as well as ample hiding spots among rocks or driftwood. Maintaining good water flow and oxygenation is crucial for their well-being.

Diet-wise it is omnivorous, and they readily accept a variety of foods. Their diet can include high-quality sinking pellets, frozen or live invertebrates, and even some plant matter.
