Description : Wart snakes are also known as the "little file snake,". It permanently resides in estuaries and coastal seas, earning it the nickname "marine file snake." Although all these snakes are aquatic and largely helpless on land. They can venture out of water thanks to its hygroscopic skin that prevents dehydration.

The scales of it are spiny and rough, distinguishing it from other snakes. Moreover, these snakes have sensory tubercles with nerve endings between their scales, allowing them to detect water movements made by their prey. It also has a laterally compressed tail, which aids in swimming by allowing the snake to flatten dorsoventrally. Their sublingual salt glands are similar to those found in the true sea snakes. Despite this, they still require freshwater, which they obtain by collecting freshwater lenses that form on the surface of marine water. True sea snakes also exhibit this behavior. It displays sexual dimorphism, with females slightly larger than males.
