Description : জল ময়ূর/ নিউ পিপি/দাল কুকরা লম্বা পায়ের জলজ পাখি। প্রজনন ঋতুতে পাখিটির লেজ লম্বা থাকে।(পূর্ণ বয়স্ক পাখির দৈর্ঘ্য প্রায় ৩১সেমি, ওজন ১৪৫ গ্রাম, ডানা ২১সেমি. পর্যন্ত হতে পারে) প্রজনন সময় ছাড়া এদের দেহ উপরের দিকে ফিকে বাদামি রঙের থাকে, গলার পার্শ্ব অঞ্চল থেকে গাঢ় লাইন নিচের দিক সাদা অংশ পর্যন্ত বিস্তৃত থাকে। বুকে বাদামি ব্যান্ডের ন্যায় অংশ বিদ্যমান। এরা জলজ গাছের বীজ, কাণ্ড, জলজ অমেরুদণ্ডী প্রাণী খায়। এদের প্রজননকাল মে-সেপ্টেম্বর।
